About the Role

Join our team if you are motivated and believe in the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People." This role involves leading and mentoring, development and problem-solving, documentation, staying abreast of industry trends, collaboration, and research to improve engineering processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Define, develop, and implement solutions within the Application Development infrastructure and associated integration endpoints.
  • Provide guidance for vendors, other IT areas, or business divisions during project efforts or BAU support.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for supported solutions and processes, providing level 2 support as needed.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing effective solutions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct technical reviews of designs, code, and documentation to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain clear and concise technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Ensure proper documentation and archiving of all work.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
  • Act as a technical liaison to software engineers, systems engineers, database administrators, quality assurance, and other IT and business teams.
  • Provide periodic on-call coverage after business hours, weekends, and/or holidays as needed for minimal outages/production impacts.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and tools to improve engineering processes and efficiency.
  • Perform full-stack programming tasks according to established company, department, and project standards.
  • Implement code that is clear, concise, tested, and easily understood by others.
  • Perform code reviews, code merges, and design reviews with peers.
  • Work cross-functionally with product teams, project managers, business analysts, stakeholders, and other engineering teams to create fast, intuitive, stable, and easy-to-use software.
  • Perform a variety of actions that evaluate and improve department systems, processes, and applications.
  • Provide new feature time estimates for system changes and assist in implementing modifications.
  • Collect data related to user requests and determine scope, time estimates, and system impacts.
  • Inspect business and programming specifications, coding, test plans, documentation, and implementation plans for accuracy.
  • Design, create, and execute system integrated test plans and automation scripts to validate application functionality.
  • Implement new features, troubleshoot bugs, and assist in the support of production incidents.
  • Design functional system integration tests and automation scripts where applicable.
  • Assess and manage technology and cyber security risks related to application, network, and infrastructure.
  • Perform review and refinement of the product backlog and assist with their prioritization.
  • Drive the evolution of technology platforms and development standards to ensure scalable software solutions are delivered to business requirements.
  • Serve as on-call responder for software the team supports.
  • Explain solution architecture and technology choices to enterprise architects and senior leadership.
  • Define and solve complex business problems, leveraging best-in-class technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in software engineering, computer science, and information systems.
  • Additional five years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 5+ years of direct relevant experience preferred.
  • Must be able to confidently interact with technical, non-technical, and management staff.
  • Must be able to speak English fluently.

Skills

  • Proficient and dedicated to writing reliable, testable, maintainable, and performant code.
  • Experience in Product Development Lifecycle, ideally within Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and project tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Helix).
  • Engage for Support & Troubleshooting as well as Implementation and Conversion Projects with vendors Diebold Nixdorf, Hyosung, CFS Solutions, CV Systems, and Verafin.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong Knowledge of JavaScript, Python, JSON & XML, HTML5, Web Services: REST and/or SOAP API.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, PowerQuery).
  • Familiarity with relevant compliance standards such as PCI-DSS and GDPR.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and team player attitude with excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Proficient in multiple industry-adopted programming languages.
  • Strong experience working between multiple projects simultaneously, with varied degrees of complexity and duration.
  • Experience working in large, enterprise-level programs/projects, preferably with a background in Financial Services.
  • Experience and/or understanding in Financial Services, or related industry is a plus.
  • Proven ability to not only build technology solutions but explain your solution architecture and technology choices to enterprise Architects and senior leadership.
