About the Role

United Hospice, Inc. is seeking a Director of Residential Services to join their team at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence. This role involves directing and managing financial performance, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, and providing oversight of clinical practice to promote quality care and an efficient, effective environment for residents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages financial performance, including monitoring expenses, budget development, revenue optimization, and other fiscal matters.
  • Ensures compliance with state, federal, Joint Commission, and local standards and regulations.
  • Provides continuous 24-hour oversight of clinical practice in the residence and fosters an environment that supports interdisciplinary care delivery.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates policies and procedures to promote efficiency and effectiveness of care delivery.
  • Promotes a high standard of quality care consistent with the agency's mission and goals, evaluating care quality and implementing improvements.
  • Supports and facilitates effective resident and family collaboration and communication to achieve resident-specific outcomes.
  • Directs and coordinates the activities of professional, non-professional, and administrative staff to maximize resident quality of care and life.
  • Reviews staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage for resident needs, including work schedule flexibility.
  • Facilitates communication and works effectively with all staff, residents/families/caregivers, physicians, vendors, and other professionals.
  • Serves as a liaison with all other agency staff to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assures compliance with licensing and Medicare certification requirements and standards.
  • Provides direction for quality management, utilization, and risk management activities to ensure quality care.
  • Ensures the facility's physical environment and atmosphere are clean, attractive, and home-like, maintaining the health, welfare, and safety of all occupants.
  • Participates in community education and public relations activities, promoting the facility and building relationships with referral sources.
  • Accepts other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Incorporates the organization's commitment to customer service and continuous quality improvement into daily work habits.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse
  • Masters Degree from an accredited college or university (Nurse Practitioner preferred)
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience
  • Possesses symptom management expertise in end of life care
  • A minimum of 5 years full time experience in health care administration with residential care experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Good listening skills
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of State and Federal regulations, as well as JCAHO standards pertaining to hospice care
  • Demonstrated track record of effective leadership skills
  • Ability to relate to a diverse population and workforce in a personable and effective manner
