About the Role
The Medical Assistant will support physicians and providers in an outpatient dermatology clinic by preparing procedure trays, managing supplies, and delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and document intake
- Obtain and record vital signs
- Organize patient flow
- Setup procedure trays, instruments, and equipment
- Assist providers with dermatology procedures
- Prepare and route pathology and lab specimens
- Respond to patient inquiries in-office and via phone
- Review and address clinical task lists and nurse line messages
- Calibrate, clean, sterilize, and inventory equipment and instruments
- Maintain medication supplies and discard expired items
- Maintain infection control and stock supply rooms
- Manage ordering, sorting, and inventory of supplies
- Document patient information and scribe provider notes in the EMR
- Assist with administration of local anesthetic
- Address phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail
- Maintain HIPAA compliance
Requirements
- Ability to triage patient concerns
- Familiarity with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and Blood Borne Pathogen standards
- Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments
- Experience administering injections
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes
- Knowledge of office financial policies
- Basic computer skills and EMR experience
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent in English
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, patients, and visitors
- Ability to travel to satellite offices as needed
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to spell, sort, and file materials
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
