About the Role

The Medical Assistant will support physicians and providers in an outpatient dermatology clinic by preparing procedure trays, managing supplies, and delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and document intake
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Organize patient flow
  • Setup procedure trays, instruments, and equipment
  • Assist providers with dermatology procedures
  • Prepare and route pathology and lab specimens
  • Respond to patient inquiries in-office and via phone
  • Review and address clinical task lists and nurse line messages
  • Calibrate, clean, sterilize, and inventory equipment and instruments
  • Maintain medication supplies and discard expired items
  • Maintain infection control and stock supply rooms
  • Manage ordering, sorting, and inventory of supplies
  • Document patient information and scribe provider notes in the EMR
  • Assist with administration of local anesthetic
  • Address phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance

Requirements

  • Ability to triage patient concerns
  • Familiarity with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and Blood Borne Pathogen standards
  • Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments
  • Experience administering injections
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes
  • Knowledge of office financial policies
  • Basic computer skills and EMR experience
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, patients, and visitors
  • Ability to travel to satellite offices as needed
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to spell, sort, and file materials
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
