About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled and reliable Field Service Technician to service, maintain, and repair residential solar, battery storage, and generator systems. You’ll diagnose electrical issues, ensure compliance with NEC/AHJ standards, perform preventative maintenance, and deliver a first-class customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related components.
- Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, and inverter and battery health checks.
- Commission systems and upgrades, ensuring compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility standards.
- Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging to assess system performance.
- Maintain accurate service logs, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
- Follow strict safety standards, including PPE use, lockout/tagout, and fall protection.
- Respond to emergency and warranty calls as needed.
- Communicate clearly with homeowners, providing updates and ensuring satisfaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; trade school or technical training preferred.
- 4+ years of electrical experience, with a solar PV, battery, or generator background strongly preferred.
- Possess state-required electrical certifications/licensing (e.g., journeyman or wireman).
- Strong knowledge of NEC, AHJ, and utility interconnection requirements.
- Ability to read schematics and use electrical diagnostic tools.
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on roofs or in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.
