About the Role
The Legal & Regulatory Research Director will manage research, develop reports, and provide guidance on the legal and regulatory aspects of contingent work and workforce solutions to SIA's Contingent Workforce Strategies (CWS) Council members and Corporate Members.
Responsibilities
- Develop expertise on how laws and regulations impact organizations involved in supplying or using contingent labor.
- Monitor legislative changes and support clients in understanding implications for their businesses.
- Produce periodic comprehensive written reports communicating key business intelligence and analysis.
- Maintain SIA’s global Contingent Workforce Compliance Database.
- Collaborate with co-workers to develop extensions of current research product offerings and plan new research-related offerings and services.
- Participate in data collection and manipulation of publicly available data to understand attitudes towards legislative and regulatory trends.
- Respond to client queries regarding compliance and risk issues.
- Present or moderate at SIA’s global conferences and webinars, assisting with planning, speaker recruitment, and presentation development.
- Moderate or participate in client-sponsored webinars, particularly those covering legal topics.
- Assist editorial and CCWP training teams with legal content, course material updates, and presenting compliance and risk management modules.
- Develop a network among legal professionals in the staffing industry, collaborating with national staffing associations and third-party legal experts.
Requirements
- Extensive expertise on European legal issues.
- Qualified lawyer with a demonstrated track record of working in, or advising, the staffing industry.
- Deep understanding of the legal and regulatory environment for the workforce solutions ecosystem and its implications for clients and intermediaries.
- Knowledge of compliance with employment law, national and sectoral regulation for contingent labor (including MSP), data protection, AI, tax, health & safety, and immigration law.
- Ability to craft legal research on issues impacting staffing services, such as AI legislation, GDPR, and data protection.
- Passion for legal drafting, writing, and analysis with uncompromising attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify relevant information for a specific audience from a large volume of data.
- Understanding of the nuances of the political, economic, legal, and technological environment affecting the workforce solutions sector and its evolution.
- Comfort interacting with CEOs and top executives to build relationships and engender confidence.
- Ability to communicate research results both in writing and orally to business executives succinctly and compellingly.
- Confident public speaker with excellent writing skills and experience writing about compliance for an executive-level business audience.
- Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated initiative, ability to prioritize and manage own work and time.
- Good time management and experience of setting and meeting deadlines.
- Comfort working in a flexible team environment and eagerness to collaborate.
- High level of respect, trust, and recommendation from colleagues and clients.
- Demonstrated qualities of honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), search engines, generative AI, and other online research tools.
