About the Role

As an early member of the Legal & Compliance team, you will lead complex transactions and develop scalable legal solutions. You will partner with senior leadership to provide pragmatic legal support, focusing on commercial structures while collaborating across product and business teams to manage regulatory requirements in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and draft key strategic commercial agreements including revenue, distribution, partnership, and payments-related deals.
  • Build and maintain playbooks, policies, frameworks, and templates for bank, partner, and commercial transactions.
  • Develop solutions to scale legal capabilities through training and technology.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to cross-functional teams including sales, product, finance, and partnerships.
  • Contribute to building a best-in-class in-house commercial legal function.
  • Monitor and advise on new laws and regulations impacting the commercial business.
  • Drive continuous improvement and find pragmatic solutions to close strategic deals.
  • Adapt to change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of post-JD transactional experience in law firm or in-house settings.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating data privacy terms including CCPA and GLBA.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex transactions end-to-end with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work on a hybrid basis with 3 days per week in office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate directly and candidly.
  • Low-ego, open to feedback, and committed to refining judgment.
  • Persistence, drive, and a goal-focused mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bias for action and clear communication skills.
  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing of a US state bar.
