About the Role

Join Deutsche Bank as Global Team Head, Energy Trading Credit Risk Management and take a central role in shaping credit risk oversight for our expanding energy trading business. You will oversee a newly established global team responsible for credit exposure across oil, natural gas, emissions, United Kingdom power and United States power markets, helping to define risk appetite, establish governance frameworks and support sustainable business growth. Working together with Front Office, Market Risk, Legal and senior Credit Risk Management partners, you will provide trusted guidance on complex transactions, portfolio risks and emerging market developments. This is an opportunity to build a connected, inclusive and specialist global team while contributing to a business area that is growing in both scale and strategic importance.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and oversee credit risk appetite for the energy trading portfolio, ensuring alignment with Deutsche Bank's wider risk framework and regulatory expectations
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures and risk management frameworks that support responsible growth across the energy trading business
  • Steer the energy trading portfolio, providing strategic insights from financial/market, regulatory and macro developments and identifying emerging trends and concentration risks
  • Review due diligence assessments, counterparty profiles and transaction request materials across oil, natural gas, emissions, United Kingdom power and United States power markets
  • Evaluate transaction structures and documentation terms, proposing appropriate risk-mitigation approaches, setting counterparty credit limits and ratings, and providing approvals, declines or recommendations for larger exposures
  • Oversee the full credit lifecycle, including onboarding, limit setting, exposure monitoring, portfolio reviews, early warning indicators and concentration risk assessment
  • Guide and support a global team of Risk Officers, driving continuous improvement in processes, analytics, and reporting capabilities and supporting digitalization or AI initiatives in this area, working together with business partners, regulators and senior stakeholders

Requirements

  • Extensive energy trading credit assessment experience, supported by a strong understanding of physical and derivative energy markets
  • Proven expertise in derivatives transaction structuring, financial modelling, forecasting and credit risk evaluation
  • Skilled in guiding and supporting specialist risk teams within a complex financial services environment, with an inclusive and collaborative approach
  • Strong understanding of energy market fundamentals, risk drivers, regulatory developments and portfolio management practices
