About the Role
Block by Block employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role is ideal for outgoing, friendly individuals who enjoy working outdoors and interacting with people. It's also a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned zones on foot and/or bike to deter unwanted behavior and activity.
- Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors with a positive, professional demeanor.
- Observe and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity to local authorities, providing accurate descriptions.
- Politely request compliance from individuals violating low-level quality-of-life offenses.
- Engage pedestrians with friendly greetings and provide city information.
- Visit zone businesses to share information and gather contact details.
- Complete basic daily reports, demonstrating proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing.
Requirements
- Must be able to ride a bicycle.
- Valid TX Driver's License required.
- Valid Social Security Card required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse (including riding a bike) continuously during an eight-hour shift, with breaks and lunch.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
