About the Role

The American Academy in Berlin is a cultural institution that fosters transatlantic relations between the USA and Germany through continuous and sustainable exchange and dialogue. We invite selected American experts and their families to live and work at the American Academy for a semester. Additionally, the American Academy organizes an extensive event program with over 100 events annually. The Academy's home is the Hans Arnhold Center, a listed villa on Lake Wannsee, which houses 14 guest apartments, a restaurant with high-quality international cuisine, and three attractive event rooms.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Successfully completed chef training and 5-7 years of professional experience in various kitchen areas.
• Broad expertise and experience with vegetarian/vegan cuisine.
• Independent, structured work style with a sense of cleanliness and precision.
• Organizational talent with creativity in menu planning.
• Cost awareness and understanding of budget management.
• Teamwork skills, clear communication, and solution-oriented thinking.
• Very good German and good English language skills.
• Proficient use of digital tools (MS Office, kitchen management).
