About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Pulse Core team, you will be a high-impact individual contributor focused on accelerating the velocity of City’s Experience product teams. You will design, build, test, and own features end-to-end while working within a team that maintains a self-service developer platform and shared core services, utilizing AI-assisted development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and build features end-to-end from requirements through deployment and monitoring.
• Write clean, maintainable code using TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, and Kotlin.
• Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and contract tests.
• Utilize generative AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and Copilot in daily development.
• Manage production deployments, incident resolution, monitoring, and alerting.
• Participate in on-call rotations.
• Contribute to system design discussions and infrastructure planning.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering peers.
• Mentor mid-level engineers through pairing and code reviews.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven track record of delivering complex features in production systems.
• Deep experience with TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Strong working knowledge of Java or Kotlin.
• Experience managing production deployments and configuring monitoring systems.
• Solid understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure and on-premise Kubernetes environments.
• Ability to design and reason about scalable, distributed systems.
• Enthusiasm for learning and adopting AI-first coding workflows.
