About the Role
Seeking an experienced Head of Events Operations for a 12-month maternity cover, responsible for the operational delivery of a global events portfolio. This leadership role involves strategic planning, hands-on execution, team management, and supplier relationship oversight.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end operational delivery of The Alliance's global events portfolio, ensuring events are delivered on time, within budget and aligned with business objectives.
- Manage, coach and develop the Events Operations team, setting priorities, allocating resources and ensuring consistent delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
- Oversee every aspect of event operations including venue sourcing, logistics, supplier management, budgeting, registration, event technology, compliance and onsite execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with venues, suppliers and partners, negotiating contracts, managing performance and delivering value while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Partner closely with Commercial, Production, Marketing and Membership teams to maximise event success, support revenue opportunities and deliver outstanding attendee experiences.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working, creating scalable operational frameworks that support future growth.
- Monitor event performance, gather attendee feedback and implement improvements that strengthen operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all events are delivered safely and compliantly, maintaining robust health & safety, risk management and operational procedures before, during and after every event.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in events delivery with measurable success in managing high-impact events (international conferences, exhibitions, summits, or comparable B2B events).
- Previous experience managing and developing event teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and supplier negotiations.
- Proven ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience improving processes, systems and operational efficiency.
- Calm and confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Experience using project management tools such as Asana or equivalent.
- Willingness to travel internationally and support occasional evening and weekend events.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced startup environment with last-minute challenges.

Salary/Compensations
- £48,000–£50,000 FTE per annum
