About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Marine Energy & Liability Underwriter to join our growing London Market team. In this role, you will manage the profitability of your book by underwriting and processing new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments, while monitoring rate adequacy. You will work with a diverse Marine Liability account, leveraging your London Market expertise to build broker relationships, shape business quality, and contribute to the growth of our Marine platform.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall profitability, growth, and retention of the Line of Business.
  • Ensure business is written in accordance with company policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Adhere to Lloyds Underwriting Management Standards.
  • Support the development of assigned Line of Business by researching target business and competitor information.
  • Utilize appropriate systems for accurate data entry of quotes, risks, and endorsements.
  • Gather data and prepare reports to support underwriting policies and standards.
  • Monitor market factors and world affairs for new opportunities.
  • Promote Travelers Line of Business and provide guidance on underwriting philosophy and procedures.
  • Build strong partnerships with Agents, Brokers, and Customers.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and coaching to others.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience within the Lloyd's market, with a basic understanding of internal and external factors impacting the market.
  • Underwriting experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate emerging technical proficiency and application of knowledge commensurate with underwriting authority.
  • Ability to make sound quoting and pricing decisions in the Company's best interests.
  • Intermediate knowledge and ability in judgment, decision making, communication, and teamwork.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in Relationship Management.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in Analytical Thinking/Financial Acumen.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in Product/Technical proficiency.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in Business Perspective, using knowledge of internal and external factors impacting the Lloyd's Market.
  • Expected to be studying towards ACII qualification.
  • Previous Property and Casualty insurance experience in an underwriting, operational, or broker capacity.
  • Secondary level education or equivalent.
