About the Role
This is a build-and-scale role focused on owning a consumer experience domain, raising quality standards, growing a high-performing team, and building design-technology and AI-native capabilities to ship ambitious products. The role requires a maker and leader who leads through their work, not solely through strategy or people management. The level (Director or Senior Director) will be determined by the candidate's experience and the final scope of the domain.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and inspire a multidisciplinary team across multiple consumer surfaces, staying hands-on by reviewing designs, participating in critiques, and driving clarity.
- Solve problems from first principles, help the team make hard decisions, focus on outcomes, and implement appropriate structure to ship great work quickly.
- Set and uphold an extremely high craft bar for UX flow, UI, layout, typography, motion, micro-interaction, and visual storytelling.
- Own a consumer experience domain end-to-end, ensuring quality and delivery from problem framing to shipped product across brands and markets.
- Champion and scale the design system (Zest) and modern UI foundations, improving the connection between design and engineering through prototyping and design-to-code workflows.
- Integrate AI into the design workflow to accelerate discovery, generate/validate prototypes, and shorten design-to-delivery cycles.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to align on priorities, make tradeoffs, unblock delivery, and advocate for optimal experiences.
Requirements
- A track record of leading and growing high-performing design teams in consumer (B2C) companies, including hiring, coaching, and developing designers.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-changing environments and drive solutions proactively.
- Demonstrated success in shipping great software at scale, owning execution across a product line and features.
- Strong visual and interaction sensibility with a high personal bar for detail.
- Fluency at the design–engineering boundary, including design systems, component architecture, and prototyping.
- Experience using AI across the design workflow for insight synthesis, rapid prototyping, and design-to-code.
- Experience designing and maintaining quality across a multi-brand or multi-market consumer ecosystem.
