About the Role
This role supports the ongoing development of the Motor Bodily Injury function, strengthening the technical capability of Claims teams and ensuring high-quality outcomes for customers and the business. It is ideal for someone passionate about technical excellence, thriving in a changing environment, and experienced in working with and coaching/mentoring high-value bodily injury claims. Travel to sites for training is required.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of Large Loss to define and implement the technical strategy for claims up to £250k.
- Lead the design and implementation of a structured development pathway to enhance technical capability for high-value injury handlers.
- Provide technical coaching and guidance to colleagues, acting as the primary technical referral point for senior handlers.
- Drive improvements in assessing, managing, and resolving high-value cases by working with specialist colleagues and leaders.
- Seek opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce indemnity spend, and strengthen decision-making using audit insights and market developments.
- Monitor and interpret changes in the bodily injury landscape (CPR, JCG, Consumer Duty, MOJ, OIC, Intermediate Track) and ensure team adaptation.
- Help shape technical standards, quality controls, and governance frameworks for compliant, consistent, and commercially strong bodily injury handling.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in collaborating with the Head of Large Loss to define and implement technical strategy.
- Demonstrable experience in leading the design and implementation of structured development pathways.
- Demonstrable experience in supporting colleagues through technical coaching and guidance.
- Demonstrable experience in working closely with specialist, front line colleagues and leaders.
- Demonstrable experience in monitoring and interpreting changes across the bodily injury landscape.
- Demonstrable experience in helping to shape technical standards, quality controls and governance frameworks.
- Significant experience in handling high-value motor bodily injury claims, ideally up to £500k.
- Excellent knowledge of indemnity principles, insurance contract, RTA, MIB Articles of Association (including Article 75), BI legislation, protocols and frameworks (including CPR, JCG, Consumer Duty, MOJ, OIC and Intermediate Track).
- Experience of coaching and/or mentoring colleagues with a proven ability to help lift capability across the team, reviewing high value files and providing feedback that is both supporting and development focused.
- Strong complaints handling knowledge and experience with the ability to resolve issues effectively and in line with regulatory expectations.
- Willingness to travel to sites to deliver and/or facilitate training sessions.
