About the Role

Transworld Systems, Inc. is seeking a junior licensed Paralegal with a minimum of one year of experience. The successful candidate will possess excellent research and drafting skills, the ability to work independently, and be comfortable appearing before courts or tribunals.

Responsibilities

  • Draft correspondence and perform general office, clerical, and administrative tasks.
  • Communicate with consumers via phone and fax to mitigate damages.
  • Assist in preparing and issuing legal documents.
  • Research records, court files, and other legal documents.
  • Meet or exceed management-defined targets.
  • Prepare files for litigation, ensuring accurate supporting documentation.
  • Draft claims and/or defenses.
  • Prepare default judgments and requests to the clerk.
  • Prepare, file, and attend motions, examinations, and assessment hearings.
  • Prepare and file garnishments and writs.
  • Prepare settlement conference and trial briefs as needed.
  • Attend settlement conferences and small claims court actions.
  • Prepare and update internal tracking reports (e.g., balance, interest, post-judgment interest, costs).

Requirements

  • Paralegal license in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in litigation/trial in small claims court.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Excel, Project, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proficient knowledge of PC Law and Time Matters.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, strategic-minded problem-solving skills.
  • Desire to succeed in a competitive environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in commercial or consumer collection or accounts receivable related work is an asset but not a requirement.
