About the Role

Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), a division of First-Citizens Bank, is seeking a candidate to join the Corporate Banking Credit Solutions (CBCS) team. This team focuses on late-stage companies within SVB’s portfolio, structuring, underwriting, executing, and negotiating transactions. The role involves managing the debt process from introduction to closing, conducting due diligence, creating credit memorandums, and presenting new opportunities to approvers. The ideal candidate will execute transactions with assistance and limited guidance, providing creative late-stage and leveraged capital solutions to technology sector clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage corporate and leveraged transaction processes from new opportunity introduction to loan closing.
  • Review target company provided/publicly available materials, including historical financials, management presentations, CIMs, and 3rd party materials.
  • Assist associates with generating diligence request lists while identifying gaps in provided information.
  • Create credit memorandums to drive credit approval for new opportunities.
  • Review financial models from associates to ensure accuracy with company projections.
  • Present new opportunities to loan approvers.
  • Prepare loan packages for approvals, including utilization of existing bank systems.
  • Lead document negotiation.
  • Generate recommendations to Directors/MDs using analysis and independent judgment.
  • Drive coordination and execution with Syndications and Relationship Management partners.
  • Act as primary lending liaison for portfolio companies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting from portfolio companies with associates.
  • Manage amendment/waiver processes for portfolio companies.
  • Coordinate with RM partners to develop materials for evaluating, pitching, and executing debt opportunities.
  • Participate on diligence calls with prospects and portfolio companies, taking notes on material updates and opportunities.
  • Mentor associate staff.
  • Utilize moderate decision making and independent judgment in negotiations and relationship building.
  • Influence and drive decisions.
  • Exercise judgment and authority prudently and with proper balance for the best interests of clients and SVB.
  • Recommend structuring and underwriting points on new opportunities.
  • Make decisions related to portfolio and risk management of the existing portfolio with guidance from senior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Commercial banking, Credit Underwriting or Analysis, or Relationship Management and/or industry-specific knowledge in technology or healthcare sectors OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Commercial banking, Credit Underwriting or Analysis, or Relationship Management and/or industry-specific knowledge in technology or healthcare sectors.
  • 8+ years of experience in either a leveraged finance, investment banking, or technology commercial banking/finance role.
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent required.
  • Moderate travel is expected for this position; events, trainings, or bank meetings may require offsite work.

Salary/Compensations

  • $166,875 - $222,500 per year
  • Eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay.
