About the Role

Manulife is seeking an AML Compliance Manager to support Japan AML/ATF Compliance, audits, and special projects within the Legal & Compliance department. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide crucial support for the company's AML/ATF compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day advice and support to the Japan business and operations on AML/ATF, FATCA/CRS, and ASF matters.
  • Review and enhance the Japanese AML/ATF Compliance framework, including policies and guidelines.
  • Handle inquiries, investigations, and audits from local regulators and law enforcement bodies regarding AML/ATF.
  • Drive, manage, and monitor compliance and operational remediation/enhancement works to ensure adherence to Japanese AML/ATF regulations.
  • Stay updated on regulatory requirements and initiatives from Japanese regulators and law enforcement bodies concerning AML/ATF Compliance, conduct gap analyses, and ensure timely implementation.
  • Handle consultations on draft regulations and guidelines from Japanese regulators related to AML/ATF Compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver training to the Japanese business and operations on regulatory and compliance requirements, including AML/ATF Compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Regional AML/ATF Compliance team on case onboarding, including Enhanced Due Diligence.
  • Provide training and guidance to members of the AML Compliance team.
  • Prepare and review ongoing reports for periodic regulatory/compliance updates to Manulife’s Board of Directors, Regional and Global Compliance, and Senior Management on AML/ATF matters.
  • Lead, manage, and coordinate ad-hoc AML/ATF company projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of AML Compliance team, Manulife Japan.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial institutions, preferably in the insurance or banking industry.
  • Knowledge and experience in FSA and LIAJ AML/ATF regulations and requirements.
  • Experience in managing IT development/enhancement projects.
  • Independent, analytical thinker, hard-working, and solution/business-oriented mindset.

Skills

  • ACAMS holder (advantageous)
  • Strong English and Japanese communication skills, verbal and written
