About the Role

This Business Development/Technical Sales Manager role is critical to Ultra Maritime's international support proposition, leading customer engagement and driving new growth in the UK and internationally. The role requires engineering and naval defence experience, supported by internal teams for proposal and solution delivery. You will identify new business opportunities by combining market experience with Ultra Maritime's capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Drive customer service excellence as the primary point of contact for non-contracted incumbency positions.
  • Continuously review sales/account processes and new opportunities.
  • Review the market and generate new sales opportunities.
  • Understand customer needs and prepare solutions with assistance from team members.
  • Prepare, deliver, and review sales presentations, contracts, and proposals.
  • Ensure key customers are updated on product and market developments.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineering, operations, sales support, and supply chain for effective delivery and issue resolution.
  • Develop and implement communication/feedback links with management and R&D regarding customer feedback.
  • Support R&D colleagues in understanding commercial drivers in relation to market changes.
  • Ensure the highest standard of EHS and Ethics behaviours.
  • Manage worldwide customers effectively and build relationships to develop the support business.
  • Develop business strategies for each region with targets to secure and grow revenue.
  • Generate, understand, and review user requirements.
  • Ensure technical solutions meet customer requirements, working with Project Engineering Leads.
  • Use and manage the CRM database to record and track opportunities.
  • Support Bid/No-Bid Reviews utilizing customer and market knowledge.
  • Bid manage responses to Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ’s) and Invitation To Tender (ITT) to meet customer deadlines.
  • Perform any other duties required to fulfill the role and provide excellent customer experience.

Requirements

  • Sales and/or Engineering experience within the Naval Defence Industry and/or service within the Armed Forces.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and enthusiastic with a can-do attitude.
  • Capable of working independently using own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Ability to show a structured method of work, planning and executing different workloads.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize IT & CRM skills for everyday use.
  • Ability to be flexible in day-to-day duties as required by customers.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Appropriate permission to work in the UK.
  • Eligibility to obtain SC Clearance.
  • Undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard Check (BPSS) as a minimum.
  • Provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, and employment/education history for up to three years for Baseline Security requirements.
  • Some roles may require full Security Clearance.
