About the Role
The Solution Engineer team within the Microsoft Security organization is at the forefront of making the world a safer place by engaging directly with customers to contribute to their success. This role involves accelerating technical execution of Microsoft's strategic business priorities by selling best-in-class cloud services and platforms and building digital transformation momentum for customers, partners, and Microsoft. You will spend up to 75% of your work hours on qualified customer work and 25% on staying sharp on technical, industry, and compete expertise. Your primary goal is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and use Microsoft's range of security-focused solutions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for potential customers during the sales process, owning and driving technical wins for security opportunities.
- Maintain a deep technical understanding of Microsoft security architectures, solutions, and technologies.
- Coordinate weekly with sellers and managers to understand and prioritize opportunities, compete scenarios, and engagements.
- Remediate blockers and ensure technical wins for Microsoft Security and adjacent technologies.
- Proactively and independently engage with customers, building credibility as a trusted advisor for Microsoft Security.
- Develop strategies and recommendations to improve client security posture, shape technical win plans, and tailor Microsoft messaging to the audience.
- Lead technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and architecture design sessions.
- Explain, demonstrate, and architect solutions to solve customer security challenges and priorities.
- Oversee proof of concepts, present and apply architecture patterns, prove capabilities and integration into customer environments, and drive cross-workload support for Microsoft security solutions.
- Leverage insights and coach teams to align new or changing technology with customer security needs.
- Engage and scale with other teams within and outside the organization throughout the sales cycle.
- Engage partners in sell-with scenarios and support their technical capabilities to scale solution delivery.
- Stay sharp, share knowledge, and best practices to enable further scale and growth for the Security business.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR 5+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience developing and delivering customer demos/proof of concepts for Security across competitive offerings.
- 6+ years technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery, or related experience.
- 4+ years of experience with cloud and hybrid, or on-premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.
- Certification in Microsoft 365 Security Administration or Cloud Security.
- Advising Client Technical Decisions: Business Knowledge, Competitive Analysis, Driving Insight-Led Conversations, Strategic Technical Planning, Technology Industry Knowledge.
- Demonstrating Microsoft Solution Capabilities: Cloud Security, Formal Presentation Delivery and Storytelling, Microsoft Products, Pilots and Proof of Concepts (PoCs), Product Demonstration, Third Party Applications.
- Readiness for Deployment: Architecture Design, Problem Solving, Quality Assurance, Troubleshooting.
