About the Role
As Tech Lead Manager on our backend data platform team, you will lead technically and manage talented backend engineers. You will set direction on distributed systems projects, coach engineers, and ensure the team remains unblocked. This role involves working on video processing at scale, transcription, and core infrastructure to transform raw customer data into actionable insights.
Responsibilities
- Coach and develop talented backend engineers through code review, pairing, and design discussions.
- Run the team’s core rituals, including standups and sprint planning.
- Manage the day-to-day work of keeping the team unblocked.
- Build reliable customer data integrations with tools like Gong, Intercom, Zendesk, Slack, HubSpot, and more.
- Design and maintain systems for continuous customer data synchronization.
- Build robust, scalable integrations with authentication, rate limiting, error handling, and monitoring.
- Develop the shared data pipeline that transforms raw customer data into clean, enriched datasets.
- Create a scalable foundation to power features and future AI capabilities.
- Build systems for ingesting and reusing customer data across multiple teams and products.
- Develop data enrichment pipelines for conversation transcription, sensitive information redaction, and customer record linking.
- Design event-driven architectures to process millions of customer records efficiently.
- Improve system reliability, optimize processing pipelines, and build monitoring and observability tools.
Requirements
- Deep engineering technical expertise, operating at a senior level.
- 1-2 years of experience as a tech lead or team lead.
- Direct exposure to engineering at scale.
- Deep backend and data processing experience, including systems that perform at scale.
- Experience with media or data-in-motion pipelines, such as video processing or transcription, is a strong plus.
- Passion for innovation and learning, embedding AI into day-to-day work.
- Pragmatic and flexible approach to problem-solving.
- Comfort with ambiguity and resourcefulness.
- Ability to adjust to shifting deadlines and project goals.
- Keen eye for quality and commitment to delivering top-notch work.
