About the Role
Astro Mechanica is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across its San Francisco sites, including manufacturing, test/prototyping, and office spaces. This role is crucial for scaling the facilities function, ensuring uptime, safety, vendor management, and executing upgrade projects. The Plant Manager will also play a key role in establishing and building out facilities for supersonic aircraft and system manufacturing and testing.
Responsibilities
- Own daily operations of design, manufacturing, and test/proto sites, including facility upgrades.
- Manage contractors and vendors end-to-end.
- Run preventative maintenance, safety compliance, and site readiness.
- Drive small-to-mid capital projects from requirements to commissioning.
- Support site transitions, including deployments, closeouts, and standing up new space.
- Build operational systems for ticketing, PM schedules, and vendor tracking.
- Partner with the Head of Facilities & Infrastructure Development on capital projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5+ years in plant/facilities operations, ideally in aerospace, automotive, and/or precision manufacturing.
- Hands-on fluency with industrial electrical, compressed air, and all building systems.
- Ability to read and work with building drawing sets and create proposals.
- Track record managing trades and contractors in an active production environment.
- Comfort in a fast-moving startup environment with ambiguity and a high degree of ownership.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
