About the Role
The Activation Director provides leadership to drive activation excellence across the agency and client portfolio. This role ensures high-quality execution, optimization, and governance across all activation disciplines to deliver strong ROI and measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior thought leadership and activation expertise to guide clients through emerging trends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Lead presentations on market insights, activation innovation, and performance trends.
- Act as an escalation point for client and media-related challenges.
- Identify opportunities to integrate broader agency capabilities to solve client challenges.
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing activation team.
- Set standards for operational excellence and craft delivery.
- Drive capability uplift through coaching, training, and structured development plans.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented team culture.
- Own the quality and performance of activation output across the client portfolio.
- Ensure delivery meets or exceeds digital benchmarks, KPIs, and business objectives.
- Provide strategic direction across planning and implementation.
- Drive a test-and-learn mindset across emerging platforms, products, and channels.
- Develop best-in-class frameworks, playbooks, and operational standards.
- Identify and integrate new capabilities, tools, and technologies.
- Hold accountability for campaign delivery against contractual and commercial KPIs.
- Oversee forecasting, invoicing accuracy, and financial management standards.
- Support investment strategies, negotiation frameworks, and audit processes.
- Ensure robust reporting, governance, and compliance across campaigns.
- Build strong relationships with media owners, platforms, and partners.
- Ensure clear briefing, collaboration, and feedback loops to optimize delivery.
Requirements
- Deep expertise across activation disciplines including Search, Social, Programmatic, and AdOps.
- Strong understanding of the Australian media landscape.
- Ability to translate performance data into actionable strategy and client impact.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior levels.
- Commercial acumen including forecasting, governance, and KPI delivery.
- High attention to operational excellence, quality control, and process improvement.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
