About the Role
VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) is seeking an Extreme Cleaner to provide practical and thorough household assistance to clients, working with diverse groups to meet public health standards. The role encourages client independence and prevents institutionalization, operating within client service plans and VHA policies.
Responsibilities
- De-cluttering and discarding of unwanted items
- Washing walls, floors, and windows
- Doing laundry and ironing
- Cleaning and sanitizing appliances, cupboards, and closets
- Performing home cleaning services including washing floors, sinks, and related surfaces
- Vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down fridge and stove exterior
- Emptying wastebaskets
- Polishing furniture
- Washing accessible interior windows
- Cleaning and organizing the inside of cupboards, stoves, and fridges
- Completing time-keeping protocols ensuring accuracy and timely submission
- Participating in team meetings as requested
- Participating on project teams as appropriate
- Sharing in handling workload for positive results
Requirements
- Minimum of one year's experience in private or institutional cleaning
- Experience working with vulnerable clients who are dealing with age-related health conditions and/or mental disabilities is an asset
- Good physical and mental health
- Ability to work independently while following pre-set instructions
- Ability to work cooperatively with the care-giving team
- Ability to read and write English (equivalent to the Grade 8 level)
- Must be flexible to be able to support a diverse client group
