About the Role

This position plays a critical role in supporting communications activities across the organization for both internal and external audiences. The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm, passion, and a commitment to excellence, applying advanced writing skills and communications expertise in multi-channel communication activities.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage content for external and internal communications and publications, including employee newsletters, speeches, talking points, print collateral, direct mail, email marketing campaigns, digital ad copy, web content, media releases, PowerPoint presentations, and event support materials.
  • Write, coordinate, and execute program or campaign-specific communications plans for internal and external audiences.
  • Build influential business relationships with senior leadership and internal partners to extract and communicate key messages to employees and members.
  • Liaise with external vendors supporting PR and translation.
  • Support the execution of media relations and communications plans to raise awareness of Alterna.
  • Assist with monitoring and reporting on the success of all corporate communications initiatives.
  • Field translation requests and manage departmental relationships with the translation service provider.
  • Act as an ambassador for Alterna’s brand by presenting a professional image, demonstrating diplomacy, and championing corporate communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support change management methodologies and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of five years in a communications role of this level.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, plan, write, and execute external and internal communications projects.
  • Advanced writing skills: media releases, speeches, scripts, presentations, newsletters, ad copy, web and social media content.
  • Experience in project managing communications streams on complex implementations and programs.
  • Proven ability to edit content into text that is clear, consistent, and easy to understand.
  • Professional and responsible in dealing with senior-level decision-makers.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and juggle various communications initiatives.
  • Experience working in financial services is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a strong asset.
  • High level of proficiency in all MS Office suite products.
