About the Role

Hearst Newspapers is investing in its sales force and seeks a digitally savvy, highly motivated Account Executive for The Austin American-Statesman. This role involves developing and managing a sales pipeline, building new business relationships with local advertisers, and promoting compelling advertising solutions. The Account Executive will act as a customer advocate, collaborating with other departments to exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Call on local small to medium sized businesses to show the value of digital media advertising products.
  • Generate new leads through cold calling, networking, and prospecting.
  • Stay aware of new businesses opening in the area.
  • Own the sales cycle with support from the local account management team.
  • Become an expert on digital and print products/services.
  • Implement marketing strategies and deliver effective sales presentations.
  • Create engaging advertising solutions to solve clients’ business needs.
  • Manage and nurture existing client accounts to ensure satisfaction, retention, and upsell opportunities.
  • Proactively identify ways to expand each client's business.
  • Recommend new products and promotional opportunities to current clients.
  • Handle objections efficiently.
  • Manage client pipeline and monthly revenue forecast in Salesforce.com.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of business-to-business outside sales in advertising or media.
  • Proven success in new business acquisition and exceeding revenue goals.
  • Goal-oriented, competitive, and forward-thinking with strong business and financial acumen.
  • Direct and get things done quickly, with confidence, integrity, and determination.
  • React and adjust to changing conditions and come up with practical ideas to deal with them.
