About the Role

Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates programs to foster the social, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual development of adults aged 60+ at the Aquatic Park Center. Plans and manages outreach programs for the local community, including individuals with behavioral health needs, and collects data to meet funder criteria. Programs are designed to reflect participant interests and needs. Serves as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Develops, coordinates, and implements programs with senior center participants and staff input that encourage social, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual development.
Develops and includes educational, intellectual, cognitive, lifelong learning, cultural, fitness, health and wellness, and development programs for seniors.
Manages and ensures procedures and processes are followed to protect the safety and welfare of all users of the Aquatic Park Center.
Provides backup support to the Program Supervisor when offsite.
Works with special needs populations, including those aging with substance abuse and behavioral health disorders, modeling professional interactions.
Surveys senior center participants to determine needs, interests, and abilities.
Gathers information from participants on talents they can contribute to the senior center community.
Promotes and encourages continued volunteerism within the senior center community.
Creates monthly and/or quarterly calendars and newsletters.
Decorates the community to recognize holidays and diverse groups.
Organizes and promotes activities through invitations, flyers, and the internet.
Provides updates about resources and information to participants and their family members.
Sets up physical arrangements for groups and requests supplies and equipment.
Follows systems of accountability to ensure cleanliness and order.
Coordinates the set up and breakdown of all programs and is physically present and engaged during programs.
Maintains inventory of material, supplies, and equipment within the approved budget.
Utilizes community resources to assist in conducting activities.
Plans activities with participants and volunteers and collaborates on resource and service delivery.
Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
Assesses and monitors opportunities for improvement and reviews with the Program Supervisor.
Prepares reports and correspondence.
Provides monthly status reports.
Makes recommendations regarding current trends and projections.
Provides translation and direct communication support in Mandarin and Cantonese.
Performs other work as assigned.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Recreation, Recreation Therapy or a related field required.
Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in a social or recreational program preferred.
Experience in serving those with behavioral health and substance abuse issues preferred.
Experience in aging or related services preferred.
Passion to serve underserved and challenged populations.
Passion to manage multitasks in an ever-changing setting.
Bilingual in Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian and/or Spanish preferred.
