About the Role

The Director of Security is responsible for implementing and managing Residential Security operations, Health & Safety programs, and Fire & Life Safety programs. This role involves training security teams, acting as Manager on Duty, and leading service delivery, particularly for overnight shifts. The position requires a hands-on approach to motivate the team and ensure smooth operations within the Private Residences.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a Health and Safety Management system, including safety statements, risk assessments, and training.
  • Schedule, discipline, and direct security personnel in all aspects of security policies, procedures, and Four Seasons behaviors.
  • Take an active role in the development and implementation of the property's fire and emergency plan, including related training and fire drills.
  • Conduct monthly, annually, and yearly drills related to 706 Mission Emergency Codes.
  • Set up documentation processes for all incidents, including crime, potential liabilities, and insurance requirements, writing comprehensive and objective reports.
  • Advise and recommend control measures for incidents or events.
  • Direct and/or assist in internal and external investigations.
  • Guide employees in handling unusual resident or employee issues.
  • Control and maintain security systems (CCTV, access control, alarm, fire protection) and establish escalation plans for system faults.
  • Respond properly to all types of emergencies or safety situations.
  • Manage and supervise day-to-day security employees to ensure the safety and security of residents, employees, and property.
  • Direct security employees in implementing and maintaining security processes, practices, and policies to reduce risks and limit liability.
  • Create and implement all policies and procedures regarding security and safety.
  • Recommend preventive safety and security measures and investigate crimes committed against the property, homeowners, and employees.
  • Conduct key audit and control tasks to ensure compliance with local legislation.
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Manager to train the overnight security team on Building/Engineering emergency procedures.
  • Develop and implement profit improvement ideas, policies, and procedures with approval.
  • Demonstrate great attention to detail and continuous innovation in daily work.
  • Coordinate, observe, and prepare operating equipment and supply inventories.
  • Ensure labor model is efficient and appropriate for residence occupancy.
  • Handle all resident interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, resolving complaints and assisting with inquiries.
  • Proactively suggest and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Continuously strive for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Promote and monitor the confidential treatment of all relevant data.
  • Remain informed of current and local laws and regulations related to the property, residents, visitors, employees, and Health & Safety.
  • Organize services and resources to meet goals, policies, and procedures with an emphasis on effective and courteous service.
  • Maintain the inventory of emergency supplies.
  • Understand state-of-the-art technology solutions and innovative security management techniques.
  • Establish appropriate standards and associated risk controls.
  • Approve and file company COI’s for all third-party contractors.
  • Work all shifts as required.
  • Review and update Health & Safety Policies and procedures.
  • Review and update Fire management procedures.
  • Communicate and review the Health and Safety management system with employees.
  • Conduct and review hazard identification and risk assessments.
  • Teach managers and provide support on completing Risk Assessments.
  • Liaise with off-site third-party IT company for basic onsite IT support.
  • Assist with any other reasonable requests.
  • Plan, organize, lead, and control projects and safety-related matters.
  • Establish rapport with residents, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Apply a global working perspective and excellent communication skills.
  • Assist in establishing policies, rules, internal controls, and safeguards.
  • Participate in and develop employee training programs.
  • Network within the community to ensure positive relationships with neighbors and third parties.
  • Ensure all interactions with third parties are professional and adhere to the highest ethical and moral codes.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership skills in a residences/hospitality environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic, analytical, and solid business acumen.
  • Ability to promote a continuous learning environment.
  • Previous experience in lifesaving and/or property protection.
  • Experienced in CPR, first aid, fire prevention/fighting, and crowd control.
  • Ability to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to apply an ethical and moral approach to influence situations.
  • Ability to serve as a role model for others.
  • Ability to continuously seek to improve personal and team performance.
