About the Role
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or Senior MSL serves as the local medical voice for AstraZeneca in Breast Oncology. This field-based professional provides scientific support for marketed products, new indications, and compounds in development, while building local medical strategies to improve patient care and outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop a tailored medical strategy to meet USMA priorities and local patient needs.
- Build strong working relationships with external stakeholders in academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices.
- Lead scientific exchanges and peer-to-peer interactions with oncologists and multidisciplinary teams.
- Gather insights on the treatment landscape, healthcare environment, and barriers to optimal patient care.
- Discuss data and educational gaps with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to inform R&D strategy.
- Maintain current scientific knowledge and attend relevant conferences.
- Collaborate with Clinical Operations on trial feasibility and execution.
Requirements
- Advanced scientific degree (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA, or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline.
- 2+ years of MSL or relevant therapeutic area experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content with multiple audiences.
- Strong understanding of clinical study design, protocols, and methodology.
- Basic understanding of the healthcare system, statistics, and regulatory environment.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to travel 40-60% domestically by car, train, and plane.
- Ability to express ideas clearly in written and verbal formats.
- Ability to navigate within a matrixial environment.
