About the Role
Performs complex interior design assignments receiving specific and detailed instruction as to tasks required and results expected. Responsible for working with the project team to assist overall effort of completing various project phases.
Responsibilities
- Keeping the project, or a phase of a project, on schedule.
- Selection and specification of all interior architectural materials and finishes, furniture, lighting and artwork.
- Developing innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to intended purposes and function which is reflective of client goals and within project budget.
- Conducting programming efforts such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting and color coordination.
- Coordinating color and material palettes.
- Incorporating Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
- Rendering conceptual design ideas and preparing 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
- Preparing and conducting client presentations.
- Preparing, correcting and updating documents during schematic design and design development phases.
- Soliciting bids and assisting Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of the materials, finishes, and furnishings required.
- Communicating with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and providing support as necessary.
- Implementing and utilizing HOK Standards for all projects and processes.
- Providing support to all team members for specific field, style, or phase of interior design expertise.
- Mentoring and directing the work of less experienced staff and delivering staff performance evaluations.
- Participating in interviews and recruiting of professional staff.
- Taking personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
- Fostering a commitment to external and internal client service.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design or foreign equivalent
- 3 plus years’ experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required.
- LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.

- $85,000 to $100,000
