About the Role

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for providing safe, timely, and courteous rides for residents to and from various activities while maintaining paperwork, records, and vehicle condition. This role involves arranging transportation for medical appointments and outings, ensuring effective communication with residents, families, and caregivers, and reporting any changes in resident condition or behavior.

Responsibilities

Transport residents and a care provider to scheduled destinations safely, courteously, and timely.
Prioritize passenger safety and maintain accountability at all times.
Assist residents with special needs during transportation, including carrying packages, opening doors, and assisting with wheelchairs.
Operate a wheelchair lift and properly secure wheelchairs.
Arrange residents' transportation schedules based on guidelines and resident requests.
Maintain records of all transportation requests.
Communicate with residents, family members, and care providers for scheduling.
Review the daily transportation schedule and communicate with fellow Coordinators.
Transport residents to/from planned outings.
Provide miscellaneous pickup and delivery services.
Perform pre-use vehicle checks for readiness (fuel, oil, tires) and record routine maintenance.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and notify supervisor of necessary repairs.
Assist with scheduling and transporting vehicles to/from service appointments.
Operate vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and regulations.
Submit to mandated drug testing and safe driving programs.
Notify supervisor of resident concerns, problems, or incidents immediately.
Assist the Front Desk with operational needs.
Log and deliver packages to residents and departments.
Attend department staff and in-service meetings.
Follow safety, loss prevention, and infection control procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

3 years as a licensed driver.
Valid California Class C license with a good driving record and no suspensions or revocations in the prior 3 years.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Computer skills related to scheduler programming.
Experience with senior population.
Ability to transport residents in wheelchairs.
Ability to interpret and follow map directions.
Ability to operate various sizes of vehicles (4 passengers, vans, and buses) comfortably.
Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
Must maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with residents and guests at all times.
Must be able to sit in a vehicle for up to 6 hours per day.
Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to load and unload cargo areas.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must have good driving skills in handling vehicles on wet and/or slippery roads.
Must possess fine motor skills.
Must possess good visual acuity.
