About the Role
The Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of guest rooms to hotel standards, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable experience for guests. Duties include making beds, cleaning bathrooms, changing towels, addressing guest questions, and ensuring rooms are fully stocked and inviting.
Responsibilities
- Clean and service guest rooms according to hotel standards and procedures.
- Make beds, change linens, and replace towels and amenities.
- Vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors, and dust furniture and fixtures.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, and mirrors.
- Replenish guest room supplies such as toiletries, coffee, water, and other amenities.
- Inspect rooms for maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damages and report them promptly.
- Remove trash and used linens from guest rooms and designated areas.
- Ensure rooms are properly prepared for arriving guests.
- Maintain cleanliness of hallways, storage rooms, and other assigned housekeeping areas.
- Respond to guest requests and inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
- Follow hotel safety, security, and sanitation policies.
- Protect guest privacy and always maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in deep-cleaning projects and special assignments as needed.
Requirements
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, managers, and colleagues.
- Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration.
- Understand and use safe work practices for all safety precautions including Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Violence in the Workplace, Accident Reporting, OSHA Compliance, and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures.
- Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued including time and attendance expectations, uniform and dress code standards, anti-harassment policy, and substances in the workplace.
- Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to walk the property and grounds frequently.
- Ability to move up and down stairs frequently.
- Ability to move quickly based on guest needs.
- Ability to regularly move and lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to use repetitive manual dexterity, such as squeezing, spraying, folding, polishing, scrubbing, dusting, etc.
- Ability to bend, kneel, stretch, and reach frequently, including above head, and repetitively during a shift.
- Ability to visibly survey property areas clearly and use an eye for detail to inspect guest rooms for cleanliness.
- Ability to communicate and exchange information effectively.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks, operate equipment, and complete job duties in a safe manner.
- Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs including midweek and weekend days.
- Professional cleaning experience preferred, but not required.
- Previous housekeeping or hotel experience preferred but not required.
- Successful completion of background check.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions and establish procedures.
- Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role and cleanliness.
- Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion.
- Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.
- Employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
