About the Role

The Clinician will conduct mental health assessments, provide individual therapy and crisis intervention for UC in the LTFC Program. This role involves direct counseling, collaboration with Case Managers, and ensuring compliance with ORR policies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health assessments for all UC in care.
• Provide ongoing individual therapy and crisis intervention.
• Provide direct counseling services to the child as required/needed.
• Collaborate with program Case Managers for all plan development and reporting to ORR/Case Coordinators.
• Maintain strong collaborative relationships with Case Managers.
• Ensure constant and open communication with Case Managers regarding family/sponsor relationships and mental health status.
• Be sensitive to and supportive of the children’s cultural and ethnic heritage and values.
• Determine complexity of cases and provide clinical insights on referrals and post-release services.
• Work on case mitigations and develop post-release care plans.
• Plan with the Lead Clinician, Case Managers and ORR for conferences and staffing meetings.
• Provide ongoing mental health assessment as per UC documentation regulations.
• Provide developmentally and culturally sensitive and trauma-informed therapy services.
• Lead regular psycho-educational groups with placed UC.
• Assist in the coordination of discharge or transfer of each child.
• Ensure the delivery of appropriate summaries in each case.
• Be responsible for the respective UC Portal documentation.
• Oversee the preparation of summaries and maintenance of current progress notes.
• Ensure relevant information regarding significant incidents are incorporated into the case record and placed into UC Portal.
• Ensure that both paper case records and electronic case records are stored and protected in compliance with CHP and ORR procedures.
• Maintain individual therapeutic relationships with each UC.
• Engage in continued professional development through in-service seminars, conferences, workshops, and/or continued study.
• Remain current regarding Children’s Home policies, OCFS policies, and ORR policies.
• Maintain on-call responsibilities to the UC program, including calls from ORR.
• Accept other tasks as delegated by the Program Director or as required by ORR.

Requirements

• MSW and 2 years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience.
• Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science with clinical experience.
• Clinicians must be licensed or license eligible.
• Proficient in the Spanish Language.
• Must be available to travel within the U.S. for reunifications for exigent circumstances as needed.
