About the Role

Serval is seeking a founding Solutions Engineer to own the technical pre-sales cycle for prospective customers. This role involves proving the platform's capabilities to sophisticated IT and security buyers, writing the SE playbook, and collaborating with GTM leaders to shape technical evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Run the technical sales motion with AEs, including discovery, architecture, demos, whiteboard sessions, and executive briefings.
  • Manage security reviews to secure technical buy-in.
  • Integrate with prospect stacks, including identity providers, ITSM, MDM, HRIS, cloud, and SaaS applications.
  • Translate technical environments and requirements into scoped use cases and success criteria for pilots.
  • Act as the security and access expert, addressing guardrails, approval workflows, least-privilege access, audit logging, and compliance.
  • Ensure a clean handoff to the Deployment team with full technical context.
  • Build the foundational SE toolkit, including demo environments, reference architectures, evaluation frameworks, and FAQs.
  • Serve as a liaison between the field and product, relaying objections and feature gaps to engineering.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in solutions engineering, sales engineering, or a comparable pre-sales technical role at a high-growth B2B software or infrastructure company.
  • Proven track record of selling technical products to senior IT and security buyers.
  • Hands-on credibility with CIOs, Heads of IT, and security leaders.
  • Deep technical understanding, capable of holding your own in architecture reviews and debugging integrations.
  • Working fluency with the modern IT and identity stack, including IdPs, SCIM, ITSM, SaaS administration, and APIs.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to translate complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • A builder's instinct and high ownership, motivated by being first and creating scalable systems.
  • Experience with ITSM, IGA, access management, security, or AI automation products is a strong plus.
