About the Role
Underwrites new commercial loan requests, renewals, and annual reviews, preparing credit analysis and risk rating packages. Reviews collateral documents including appraisals, title policies, environmental reports, surveys, leases, and construction contracts.
Responsibilities
- Meets with Commercial Loan Officers and/or borrowers to understand existing loans and new loan requests.
- Completes credit analysis and risk rating packages detailing loan request, structure, collateral, borrower background, financial analysis, cash flow, policy compliance, future requirements, strengths, weaknesses, and conditions for closing.
- Provides feedback to Commercial Loan Officers and supervisory staff regarding underwriting concerns.
- Recommends and models appropriate loan structure for new and existing loan relationships.
- Contacts business members, accountants, attorneys, or other professionals to clarify information for credit analysis packages.
- Attends business loan appointments with business loan officers for profiling.
- Requests and analyzes collateral documents, proactively resolving any issues.
- Requests financial statements for annual reviews.
- Completes annual reviews per business loan policy and established dates, analyzing trends to determine appropriate risk ratings and recommending changes.
- Maintains annual review and risk rating reports.
- Attends Commercial Loan Committee meetings to present credit analysis information.
- Assists in the annual review of the Commercial Lending Policy.
- Performs loan audit review work as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in business/commercial credit analysis. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Strong financial and credit analysis skills with a detailed understanding of business credit and collateral documents.
- Experience with software or systems used for credit analysis, and deposit and loan products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as a valuable team member in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment and discretion while maintaining confidentiality.
- Develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures related to the position.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and job-related state and federal laws and regulations.
