About the Role

The Sr. Debt Counselor role manages and collects delinquent business and consumer accounts using a consultative approach to resolve balances in the best interest of all parties. This role requires experienced, professional, customer-focused, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented individuals capable of working in a fast-paced or remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides financial, clerical, and administrative services to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate repayment of accounts.
  • Addresses collection/accounts receivable issues and assists with special projects based on departmental goals.
  • Ensures effective decisions are made in the best interest of client requirements and expectations.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment within authority and scope of work.
  • Reviews Secretary of State, P&Ls, and various financial documents to ensure resolution is supportable.
  • Resolves complex issues.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with departments to achieve client and ConServe goals.
  • Performs skip-tracing to locate and contact consumers and businesses.
  • Meets daily, weekly, and monthly goals set by management.
  • Achieves an acceptable level of daily metrics and productivity.
  • Achieves a high level of resolution with a compliant and customer-centric approach.
  • Manages and updates systems for maximum contact efficiency.
  • Adheres to ConServe’s Blueprint Quality Management System, Code of Conduct, and Compliance Program.

Requirements

  • One year of ConServe collections experience or five years of relevant 3rd party debt collection experience in Higher Education, Financial Services, or Government debt collection.
  • Prior proven experience with ECMC.
  • Consistent, proven twelve-month performance history.
  • Documented successful debt collection performance records.
  • Current or recent debt collection experience preferred.
  • Business to Business asset recovery, sales, marketing, or other B2B related skills preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to act independently to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work the required scheduled shift.
  • Fluent in conversational English and proficient in reading and writing English.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to listen, persuade, negotiate, and obtain resolution.
  • Intermediate computer skills for documenting calls and navigating software, databases, and the internet.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers.
  • Ability and history of maintaining confidentiality and trustworthiness.
  • Ability and history of interacting professionally with team members and customers.
  • Ability to telework, including a secure internet connection and a private work area.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government Security Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain State Collections Licensure.
  • U.S. Citizenship or lawful Permanent Resident alien with three or more years as a permanent resident in the United States.
  • No conflicts of interest with ConServe or its Clients.
