About the Role
Gateway Foundation is seeking Direct Care Monitors to provide essential services to individuals with substance use and mental health disorders within a correctional healthcare setting. Responsibilities
- Monitor and observe clients, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Provide motivational support and guidance to assist clients in meeting therapeutic goals.
- Report client observations and contribute to treatment decisions.
- Monitor clients in medication self-administration.
- Collect urine samples for laboratory screening.
- Administer breathalyzer tests to clients for alcohol detection.
- Support treatment plans by scheduling and coordinating client transportation.
- Assist in planning client interactive events.
- Provide security for the medical building.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in corrections, security guard, security officer, home health aide (HHA), direct support professional (DSP), caregiver, or substance abuse counseling is a plus.
- Must be able to respectfully interact with substance abuse clients and form a working therapeutic alliance.
- Valid driver's license in state of residence and good driving record required.
- Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends.
- Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time.
- Ability to speak with others to exchange information and provide support.
- Ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy.
- Ability to respond to telephones and pages, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises.
