About the Role
A multifaceted role based in Berlin, Germany, focusing on financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. The role requires a hands-on, solution-oriented professional to manage core accounting processes, support audits, and shape financial controls in a fast-paced, international environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, including invoices and bank transactions.
- Resolve customer and supplier inquiries.
- Manage and control company expenses via Payhawk.
- Reconcile, clarify, and monitor open items.
- Execute month-end close processes.
- Prepare statutory monthly filings, including VAT returns and statistical/foreign-trade reporting.
- Record and post fixed assets.
- Post recurring transactions, prepaid items, and accruals.
- Prepare monthly analyses and handle ad-hoc requests.
- Prepare single-entity statutory financial statements under local GAAP, including notes and management reports.
- Prepare and provide commentary on closing documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess and account for complex transactions according to accounting standards.
- Contribute to corporate income tax, trade tax, and withholding tax matters.
- Prepare documentation for national and international tax returns.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and the group tax function.
- Prepare year-end close and serve as the primary contact for external auditors and tax authorities.
- Compile vouchers and documentation for audit requests.
- Develop analyses, documentation, and position papers on accounting and tax matters.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues.
Requirements
- Recognized accounting qualification at certified accountant level (e.g., Bilanzbuchhalter/IHK) or equivalent.
- Several years of professional accounting experience, ideally in an international environment.
- Demonstrable experience in preparing single-entity financial statements, notes, and management reports.
- Sound knowledge of German GAAP (HGB).
- Basic understanding of corporate income tax, trade tax, withholding tax, and interest-deduction limitation rules.
- Fluent German (minimum B2 level) and English, both written and spoken.
- Confident use of MS Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Willingness to work on-site 4 days per week.
