About the Role
Pantheon and Doubleday are seeking an Associate Publicist to manage media campaigns for fiction, nonfiction, and graphic titles, including planning author tours and creating press materials.
Responsibilities
- Execute media campaigns for paperback and hardcover titles across various genres, securing national, regional, and niche media.
- Independently plan and execute author tours, including travel and schedule management.
- Accompany authors to local NYC-based interviews and bookselling events.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with media contacts, event coordinators, and booksellers.
- Communicate with agents and manage author care.
- Create persuasive press materials such as press releases, pitch letters, author Q&As, and story ideas.
- Read manuscripts prior to publication and contribute to publicity plans.
- Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and sales teams on campaign execution.
- Identify new media opportunities and brainstorm creative angles.
- Support the coordination of periodic media events for imprint authors.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of publicity experience in a publishing environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and prioritize.
- Ability to independently manage campaign budgets.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a creative and strategic thinker.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Muck Rack, Reletter, Podchaser, or similar media databases is a plus.
- Interest in graphic publishing and the evolving media landscape is a plus.
