About the Role

The AI Lead Consultant is the analytical and commercial intelligence layer of every Greenlight AI engagement. You ensure the engineer builds the right thing by owning the what and the why of every automation initiative, including process discovery, requirements definition, business case justification, and AI logic design. This role is critical in preventing requirements failures, a common cause of enterprise AI project failure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured current-state process discovery sessions with client stakeholders.
  • Challenge client requirements with disciplined questioning to identify and resolve flawed process steps.
  • Apply Lean thinking to identify and eliminate waste, bottlenecks, and manual interventions.
  • Produce redesigned future-state process maps representing optimized workflows.
  • Facilitate executive-level process reviews to validate redesigned workflows and secure alignment.
  • Author clear, complete, and structured requirements for AI agent automations.
  • Define agent decision logic in structured formats like decision trees and if-then-else flows.
  • Document scope boundaries, including autonomous handling, human-in-the-loop review, and escalations.
  • Write user stories and acceptance criteria specifying actor, action, business outcome, and success conditions.
  • Identify and document edge cases, exceptions, and failure modes for graceful agent handling.
  • Validate requirements completeness with the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) before build begins.
  • Develop and maintain working fluency in Claude Cowork and the Skills framework as a power user.
  • Use Claude directly during discovery and validation to test sample inputs and assess output quality.
  • Distinguish between process steps best suited for AI agent automation, workflow tools, or human execution.
  • Understand prompt design principles conceptually to review and provide feedback on agent logic.
  • Recognize and escalate technically unfeasible requirements early.
  • Stay current on Claude and broader AI platform updates, translating new capabilities into automation opportunities.
  • Build automation business cases quantifying current-state cost, projected AI-enabled capacity, error reduction, compliance risk mitigation, and payback period.
  • Develop ROI models at conservative, base, and optimistic confidence levels.
  • Prioritize automation opportunities by value-to-complexity ratio.
  • Produce executive-ready business case presentations translating quantitative ROI into strategic narrative.
  • Track realized value post-deployment against projected figures.
  • Design and facilitate discovery workshops, process reviews, requirements walkthroughs, and alignment sessions.
  • Translate AI concepts into language that resonates with operations managers, compliance officers, and C-suite audiences.
  • Manage competing stakeholder priorities and process ownership disputes.
  • Serve as the day-to-day business-side point of contact for client stakeholders.
  • Produce high-quality written deliverables: process maps, requirements documents, business cases, workshop readouts, and steering committee packages.
  • Surface expansion opportunities during active engagements and route them to the appropriate team members.
  • Participate in pre-sales discovery calls and scoping sessions.
  • Contribute to proposals by authoring process design and business case sections.
  • Build reusable practice assets: process assessment frameworks, requirements templates, BRD structures, ROI models, and industry-specific workflow patterns.
  • Contribute to thought leadership on process reengineering, AI requirements design, and automation ROI.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in business analysis, management consulting, process improvement, or operational transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading reengineering initiatives.
  • Ability to facilitate structured discovery workshops with cross-functional and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Hands-on use of Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, or comparable LLM platforms in a professional context.
  • Strong written communication skills, producing polished, structured deliverables under time pressure.
  • Structured thinking ability to organize ambiguous situations into clear frameworks and recommendations.
  • Intellectual courage to challenge client requirements and push back on automate-as-is when processes are flawed.
  • AI fluency: understanding of how agents reason, their strengths, and where human judgment is required.
  • Executive presence to present findings and recommendations to C-suite audiences confidently.
  • Working knowledge of Claude Cowork and Skills framework as a power user.
  • Conceptual understanding of LLM platforms (Anthropic Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, OpenAI).
  • Proficiency with process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or equivalent).
  • Experience with ROI and financial modeling in Excel.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery fundamentals (sprint cycles, user stories, acceptance criteria).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher with applied project experience (nice to have).
  • CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent BA certification (nice to have).
