About the Role

The General Manager is the key influencer in the food and beverage department, orchestrating the guest dining experience by leading a team of passionate individuals. The outlets will be a culinary hub for gatherings and entertaining, open for all meal periods and late night drinks. The goal is to create an ambiance where locals and visitors feel at home, achieved with a solid grounded team led by a seasoned hospitality professional. This position is for someone driven by the need to create memorable experiences, passionate about being present on the floor during service, and directly impacting the guest and staff experience.

Responsibilities

  • Train, monitor, and develop a team of talented individuals through consistent training programs.
  • Monitor and track the flow of information from senior management, hotel side, and culinary side, distributing it to teammates.
  • Manage communication relationships between guests and all involved areas, including special requests and service issues.
  • Clearly communicate expectations to teammates each shift and remain consistent in messaging.
  • Be present on the floor to understand the happenings and guest interactions.
  • Detail and confirm guest profiles, communicating them to FOH and BOH.
  • Handle guest issues directly with confidence and achieve positive results.
  • Lead the team through troubleshooting and empower them to resolve issues while remaining actively involved in solutions.
  • Keep the team on track, energized, and focused, maintaining a consistent attitude about standards and service.
  • Balance the needs of the team, guests, and business, adapting to the needs and level of business to maintain guest experience.
  • Manage time effectively between floor presence, training, and business deliverables.
  • Complete schedules to balance business needs and labor profits.
  • Monitor inventory controls, P&L, product waste, china, glass, and equipment.
  • Complete all human resource aspects according to protocol.
  • Maintain a strong floor presence.
  • Communicate with the kitchen, other outlets, and the front desk regarding food issues, VIPs, reservations, and business level changes.
  • Communicate with hourly colleagues about guest expectations, menu changes, and special events through per-shift team meetings and post-shift recaps.
  • Handle daily tasks including scheduling, staff adjustments, revenue driving, checking duties, monitoring uniform and grooming standards, and ensuring Virgin standards and protocols are practiced.
  • Organize onboarding and deliver consistent training, including twice-daily sit-downs with new members and timely exams.
  • Ensure new members are correctly entered into the time and attendance system and have necessary tools and supplies.
  • Adhere to hiring and disciplinary process protocols.
  • Ensure TIPS certification and Food Handler Cards are on file.
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures and all state and federal liquor laws.

Requirements

  • Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Food Service Handler Card and TIPS certification valid for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Preferred: 3-5 years’ experience in a full-service restaurant or lounge in hotel management.

Experience Level

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a full service restaurant or lounge in hotel management (Preferred)

Education Level

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required
