About the Role
Support the Texas Education Agency (TEA) on projects focused on improving outcomes for Texas students, with an emphasis on major enhancements and/or rewrite efforts. Serve as the conduit between the program/customer community and the software development team for requirements.
Responsibilities
- Analyze user needs, business processes, pain points, and computer system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems.
- Elicit requirements using JAD sessions, interviews, document analysis, surveys, use cases, competitive product analysis, and workflow analysis.
- Transform elicited information into business and functional requirements.
- Develop use cases, user stories, and software requirements specifications documents using standard templates.
- Create wireframes and mockups using simple, unambiguous, and concise natural language.
- Act as a mentor to peers and colleagues in disseminating business analysis best practices.
- Proactively seek out training opportunities to maintain and enhance business analysis expertise.
- Use Jira and Modern Requirements to manage the change control process and participate in the SDLC.
- Track and communicate requirements status throughout the project life cycle.
- Verify fulfillment of all requirements, including those related to post-implementation enhancements.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements.
- 8 years of experience with software development life cycles (SDLCs).
- 8 years of business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement experience.
- 8 years of experience developing user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices.
- 8 years of experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices.
- 5 years of demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills.
- 5 years of demonstrated strong writing and organization skills.
- 4 years of documented experience working for or closely with TEA, or a federal, state, or local education agency, or an education vendor.
- 2 years of documented work experience with the issue tracking software Atlassian Jira.
- 2 years of documented work experience with the requirements management software Modern Requirements.
- 1 year of previous experience with Educator Certification.
- 1 year of previous experience with Educator Preparation Program Data Collection and Accountability.
- Candidates must currently live within 50 miles of the Austin, Texas work location.
