About the Role

The Impact Director is responsible for the overall management of day-to-day programmatic operations, ensuring City Year’s mission and service excellence through the Whole School Whole Child service model. This involves managing and developing Impact Managers and corps members, cultivating school partnerships, and fostering an impactful corps experience. The role supervises Impact Managers, oversees program members, ensures strong service impact, creates opportunities for volunteer engagement, and supports member development.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Whole School Whole Child service model.
  • Manage and develop Impact Managers and corps members.
  • Build and cultivate strong school partnerships.
  • Develop a group of committed, idealistic leaders and school practitioners.
  • Ensure completion of transformational physical service days and volunteer engagement.
  • Ensure an impactful and inspirational corps experience and corps member development.
  • Supervise Impact Managers.
  • Oversee members in the program.
  • Ensure strong service impact.
  • Create opportunities for engaging outside volunteers/visitors.
  • Support overall efforts of City Year’s mission statement.
  • Manage Impact Department strategy, school district management, data access and district agreements, evaluation, Impact Department budget, and corps Volunteer experience.
  • Manage overall aspects of school district partnerships in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Ensure high quality, detail, and measurable impact with students off-track from high school graduation.
  • Work with site leadership and school partners to identify and communicate City Year Buffalo’s long-term impact strategy.
  • Identify potential new schools, develop education partnerships, and build sustainable district relationships.
  • Maintain routine communication with key stakeholders in the schools and Impact Managers.
  • Ensure alignment of service message and implementation with Impact Managers.
  • Manage the Impact Department budget, including approving requests, managing spending strategy, and coordinating with operations to track spending.
  • Guide, motivate, and manage staff in a collaborative and community-minded environment.
  • Advance the execution of the service model under the leadership of the Executive Director.
  • Understand the current education environment in the City of Buffalo & City Year Buffalo’s partner schools.
  • Work closely with local City Year Partners point person(s) to ensure goals are met and staff feel informed and invested.
  • Identify and engage staff within partner schools to educate them about City Year Buffalo’s service and support.
  • Attend external meetings, join community groups, and track media on education topics.
  • Communicate findings to the site’s leadership team regarding new developments affecting the education vision and service.
  • Lead the development and execution of the site’s Whole School Whole Child strategy for product development and content management implementation, review, and evaluation.
  • Participate in school observations, obtain feedback from Student Success Coaches, staff Volunteers, and school partners.
  • Review best practices from City Year and education experts.
  • Review City Year data.
  • Target areas of strength and improvement for colleagues or additional training and resources.
  • Participate in conference calls, respond to emails, and complete other tasks as necessary within the City Year national network.
  • Potentially lead on select network initiatives.
