About the Role
The Welfare Administrator is responsible for maintaining member benefit entitlements under specific benefit plan Trust Funds, ensuring accuracy of employer contribution reports, and managing collection efforts for outstanding payments.
Responsibilities
- Learn and understand applicable Collective Agreements.
- Receive and verify employer contribution reports daily to ensure accurate payment matching.
- Balance and audit reports, confirming hours, rates, calculations, and additional information.
- Process company adjustments on the system.
- Perform detailed analysis of employer reporting to ensure accuracy.
- Generate and analyze reports to identify and reconcile company imbalances or irregularities.
- Follow the BPA delinquency guide for companies with outstanding balances.
- Respond to inquiries from Union representatives, companies, and members regarding eligibility, vacation pay, and other issues.
- Assist union representatives with inquiries regarding company and member reports.
- Request and distribute cheques from the Accounting Department at month-end.
- Assist employers in completing documentation and reports for submission to BPA.
- Process disability applications and confirm proof of disability.
- Enter WSIB credits for all plans monthly.
- Balance deposit slips on a monthly basis.
- Administer vacation pay garnishments and early releases.
- Run various monthly queries to assist in monthly reporting.
Requirements
- Knowledgeable on relevant Collective Agreement and associated benefit plan.
- Knowledge of the BPA Delinquency Guide, and ability to apply guidelines to day-to-day work.
- Ability to closely analyze and focus on detailed reporting and investigate discrepancies.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- PC proficient with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Good mathematical ability and basic knowledge of accounting principles.
- Ability to learn complexities of group benefit packages.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Cooperative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
