About the Role

Everytown for Gun Safety is seeking two Organizing Managers to join the Advocacy Campaigns team. These managers will oversee state-level volunteer chapters, focusing on growing the volunteer base, training leaders, and developing strategic growth and grassroots organizing plans. They will also collaborate on electoral campaigns, assess needs, identify resources, and support chapters in their communications, partnerships, educational, and advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities

Implement innovative strategies to recruit new volunteers and drive action on priority campaigns.
Collaboratively create and oversee chapter growth plans, enhancing both breadth and depth of knowledge.
Ensure volunteer chapters build sustainable, diverse grassroots field power for gun violence prevention.
Utilize data on chapter growth and volunteer retention to focus efforts on organizational priorities.
Mentor, train, and manage volunteer leaders to enhance volunteer engagement and development.
Build diverse teams using equity and inclusion principles, equipping volunteer leaders with the same skills.
Value diverse perspectives and proactively engage individuals from various backgrounds to strengthen the movement.
Lead by example with integrity and professionalism, providing and implementing feedback.
Work with the Field Leadership Team and cross-departmental teams to develop national and local campaign strategies.
Collaboratively set long and short-term priorities with chapters, ensuring focus while maintaining flexibility.
Encourage and support tactical innovations from volunteers and facilitate replication of successes.
Ensure campaign plans align with on-the-ground realities, acting as a bridge between volunteers and stakeholders.
Serve as a thought partner between volunteer leaders and the organization, building confidence and excitement.
Maintain timely communication with Chapter Leadership, serving as the first point of contact.
Serve as a public spokesperson when appropriate and approved by management.
Develop knowledge on gun violence prevention policy, local/regional politics, and relevant policy issues.
Monitor social media and public platforms for appropriate content and ensure adherence to the Social Media Code of Conduct.
Manage regional budgets and approve budget requests from chapters.
Serve as a liaison between the Organizing Team and other departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Understand how stereotypes, bias, and forms of racism impact society and articulate the connection to the disproportionate impact of gun violence on specific demographic groups.
Understand power dynamics, voice, and privilege in interactions and commit to using them to make the movement more equitable.
Demonstrated passion for the organization's mission.
Strong volunteer or staff management skills, particularly with diverse or marginalized communities.
Demonstrated experience developing and mentoring volunteers or staff.
Organizing or campaign experience (issue or electoral).
Experience writing and leading trainings.
Ability to understand, evaluate, and articulate policy and strategic planning issues.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with deadlines, under pressure, and be flexible.
Ability to travel within the US (up to 25%).
Self-motivated and proactive problem solver.
Comfort with social media, data management, and technology including VAN, Google suite, and Slack.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
