About the Role

Responsibilities
- Slits printed rolls from the press or Extruder to individual rolls as per customer specifications.
- Inspects material for quality/defects and palletizes finished rolls for shipment.
- Facilitates on-the-job training for team members on proper equipment use, safety, and operating procedures.
- Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Sets up machine.
- Uses lowboy to mount full rolls onto machine.
- Observes machine operation to detect material defects or malfunction.
- Measures material dimensions to ensure accuracy.
- Performs minor machine maintenance, including oiling/greasing and changing female knives.
- Prepares required paperwork, such as daily production reports, SPC charting, roll tickets, and inventory tags.
- Completes work orders.
- Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations.
- Follows plant safety rules.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
- Ability to interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May require manual lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
