About the Role

American Packaging Corporation (APC) is seeking talent to join their team. APC is the leading flexible packaging converter in North America and has been recognized as a "Best of the Best" workplace for 12 consecutive years.

Responsibilities

• Slits printed rolls from the press or Extruder to individual rolls as per customer specifications.
• Inspects material for quality/defects and palletizes finished rolls for shipment.
• Facilitates on-the-job training for team members on proper equipment use, safety, and operating procedures.
• Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Sets up machine.
• Uses lowboy to mount full rolls onto machine.
• Observes machine operation to detect material defects or malfunction.
• Measures material dimensions to ensure accuracy.
• Performs minor machine maintenance, including oiling/greasing and changing female knives.
• Prepares required paperwork, such as daily production reports, SPC charting, roll tickets, and inventory tags.
• Completes work orders.
• Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations.
• Follows plant safety rules.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
• Ability to interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• May require manual lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
