About the Role
As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the 4 South Medical Surgical Unit at Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing, and warm environment for patients. Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
- Monitor vital signs, weight, and assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
- Assist with patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices, and removing urinary Foley catheter.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to an RN.
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, or must obtain during new hire period.
- Nursing students must have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire.
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.
- Proficient in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an eighth-grade level.
- Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Must comply with the influenza prevention program, which includes obtaining an annual influenza vaccination or an approved exemption.
