About the Role
Perform physical labor and operate commercial and non-commercial vehicles and mobile equipment to complete highway and heavy construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Operate hand and power tools including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, and mechanical hoists.
- Measure, mark, and record distances to lay out construction areas.
- Build, position, and dismantle concrete forms.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, and ramps.
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth to grade specifications.
- Drive to and between various job sites.
- Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement.
- Tend to pumps, compressors, and generators.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate movement and alignment of materials.
- Control traffic in and around work zones.
- Load, unload, and distribute building materials and tools.
- Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery and equipment.
Requirements
- Previous highway construction or equipment operator experience.
- Valid Class A or B commercial driver license.
- Ability to travel weekly for out-of-town projects.
- Ability to safely drive assigned vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Proficiency in construction practices and tool usage.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to comprehend and apply oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work accurately and safely under minimal supervision.
