About the Role

Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and innovative teammates. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering technical solutions for rolling stock renovation and overhaul projects, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and train system requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a complete technical Scope of Work for renovation and overhaul projects
  • Create and review 3D models, 2D deliverables, and design annotations
  • Conduct stack-up analysis and ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) commitments
  • Prepare and document internal and external mechanical design reviews
  • Design products that meet project requirements, including manufacturability and serviceability
  • Monitor and report on mechanical activity progress, addressing potential issues
  • Provide technical support to production teams and customers
  • Ensure supplier and sub-contractor design quality
  • Develop 3D models, design annotations, and bills of materials
  • Perform quality checks for supplier and sub-contractor designs
  • Work closely with teams across the business (such as operations and maintenance sites, as well as design teams)

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering or 2+ years in railway or railcar products (e.g., locomotives, rail passenger cars)
  • Knowledge of metallic materials (physical properties and design) and industrial processes (welding, bending, machining)
  • Familiarity with welding codes such as AWS
  • Experience with Catia v5 (minimum 3+ years full-time or 5,000 hours)
  • Preferred experience with PDM/PLM tools (e.g., Enovia-DMA, 3DCom)
  • Preferred experience in overhaul projects and reverse engineering
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including teamwork
  • Time management and reporting skills with a sense of urgency and priority
  • Structured and organized with a hands-on approach
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of French is a bonus
