About the Role

As a Software Engineer at Perk, you will have real ownership of the entire lifecycle of a feature, from understanding customer needs to deployment and measuring impact. You will solve complex problems with autonomy and pragmatism, focusing on building reliable and simple systems for a global platform. The Billing team is building out the customer-facing billing experience, including invoices, payments, and tax details. As the first dedicated frontend hire for this team, you will own the end-to-end frontend experience and influence its architecture and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Own the entire lifecycle of a feature, from understanding customer needs to deployment and measuring impact.
  • See how technical decisions move the needle for customers daily.
  • Own the frontend experience end-to-end, from design handoff through to shipped, polished product.
  • Establish frontend practices and standards as the team's frontend footprint grows.
  • Contribute to quarterly goals and long-term vision alongside Product Manager and Engineering Manager.
  • Write design documents that lay the foundation for big changes in the frontend platform.
  • Become a guardian of the team's technical quality, spotting areas of investment and managing technical debt.
  • Communicate complex ideas across multiple teams and drive alignment across the broader organization.
  • Coordinate cross-squad initiatives and contribute to engineering guilds.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues, provide thoughtful feedback, and model great engineering practices.
  • Help Engineering Managers understand where the team needs to grow technically.
  • Translate complex business goals into technical roadmaps.
  • De-risk ambiguous projects through spikes and prototyping.
  • Architect scalable, evolvable React applications and component/data models.
  • Define and uphold engineering excellence, including CI/CD optimizations, testing strategies, and coding standards.
  • Establish frontend architecture patterns, including state management, performance budgets, accessibility, and testing.
  • Lead observability and frontend performance monitoring.
  • Define SLOs where relevant, manage incident responses, and conduct blameless post-mortems.
  • Oversee frontend security practices, including secrets hygiene, dependency risk management, and secure handling of sensitive data.
  • Level up the engineering organization through active mentorship and leading design reviews.
  • Influence the product roadmap with technical data.
  • Coordinate multi-team deliverables and align stakeholders to resolve technical blockers.
  • Leverage AI tools in coding interviews and daily work.

Requirements

  • Experience with modern AI-augmented workflows or a strong interest in them.
  • Experience leveraging agentic workflows.
  • Experience developing custom agentic skills to extend AI capabilities.
  • Experience utilizing AI-powered code reviews.
  • Ability to understand your code and own what you produce.
