About the Role
Morningstar is seeking a reporter to create original articles and adapt stories for local audiences, leveraging deep expertise to help investors and advisors navigate market trends. The role involves producing engaging and accessible storytelling on complex financial topics for a wide readership.
Responsibilities
- Publish an average of two articles per week, ranging from short commentary to in-depth features on key mutual fund and ETF trends.
- Build and maintain a strong network of expert commentators and industry sources.
- Develop narratives around emerging investing trends, anticipating shifts in flows, performance patterns, strategies, and notable product launches.
- Regionalize and adapt stories written by colleagues in other bureaus for local-language publication.
- Review and edit translated content to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with Morningstar’s editorial standards.
Requirements
- Passion for writing about investing and financial markets.
- 3+ years of journalism experience covering markets or investing, ideally with exposure to asset managers and funds.
- Strong news judgement and an eye for timely, relevant story ideas.
- Demonstrated writing skills capable of engaging both retail and professional audiences.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver same-day turnaround when needed.
- Curious, creative thinker with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Comfortable using Excel and open to learning new databases or analytical tools.
